Parents and Learning Coaches can use a Canvas Observer account to communicate with teachers and view their scholar's course content and progress.

This account is ready to go and already linked to your scholar(s). Read on to learn how to log in the first time.

  1. In a browser (we recommend Chrome) go to https://fwps.instructure.com
  2. Your username will be your personal e-mail address on file with Federal Way Public Schools. To set up a password, click on “Forgot Password?”
  3. Enter your e-mail address as the username and click “Request Password.”
  4. A confirmation will be sent within 30 minutes. Please check your spam folder.
  5. Check your e-mail and click the link to reset your password. Set up and confirm your new password.

  6. Login with your e-mail address and new password at fwps.instructure.com

  7. Review the Acceptable Use Policy and click Submit if you agree.

  8. Once you are logged in you will see your Canvas dashboard. The rectangular tiles on your dashboard are the courses of your scholar(s). Click on a tile to explore your scholar’s learning.

    • Observing more than one scholar? Switch accounts by using the menu on the right side of the dashboard.
