Getting Started Guide - Secondary
Where to Start
Plan to spend some time learning about how iA works and creating your learning schedule. Internet Academy is a blend of asynchronous (on your own schedule) and synchronous (at the same time) learning.
Ways to learn how iA works:
- Read this guide and follow-up with the orientation section in Advisory.
- Watch the Tour the Canvas Home Page video in the iA Getting Started Basics playlist. This video will teach you how to use the Canvas dashboard, including opening classes, finding assignments, messaging teachers, the calendar and more.
- Explore other videos in the playlist as needed.
How to Login
Start each school day by logging in to Launchpad for Learning: learn.fwps.org
You can also login at iacademy.fwps.org/support by clicking Launchpad to Learning.
Information about your username and password were sent in a message titled "Internet Academy Getting Started Guide & Schedule." This message is sent through ParentVUE and a copy is also sent to the email address that was provided during registration when registration is complete.

Live Zoom Sessions
Scholars in grades 6-12 organize their daily schedules around one live Zoom lesson and one live Zoom support session for each class every week.
Zoom links are on the course Home page in Canvas and the Canvas calendar
Can't find the class home page or calendar? Watch the Tour the Canvas Home Page and How to Find Zoom Links & Times videos.
Assignments, Quizzes, Assessments and Other Lessons
Asynchronous work is located in the Modules section of each course in Canvas. Asynchronous work is required and should be completed daily according to the Written Student Learning Plan for each course. Scholars set their own schedule for asynchronous learning with the help of their learning coach in the home.
